Q: Maybe I should ask the questions.
A: Who are you? Oh sorry, you're supposed to ask the questions.
Q: I'm a Nice Shark.  So why kid's books?
A: Because they are fun.
Q: What if I want to write a book?
A: You might need a scribe.  Also, you should join the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and find out what it is all about.
Q: How did you go from building houses to an ASHA certified Speech and Language Pathologist to a creator of Children's books?
A: You really are a nice shark.  What wonderful questions. They have all overlapped in a beautiful way.  I use experience I gained designing and building homes when I design and model novelty books.  As an SLP I used picture books and other books every day.  My language interventions focused heavily on Narrative language development, story grammar markers (characters, settings, initiating events, sequencing, etc), retelling stories, and the creation and revision of stories, both fiction and non-fiction alike. I always loved writing stories, but it wasn't until about 6 years ago that I joined an SCBWI critique group, began attending conferences, and decided I wanted to be a full time creator and advocate of children's literacy and it's importance in the developmental process. I love to create.
Q: So why did you wait so long to submit your own work?
A: I was having so much fun writing and sketching!  But now the time has come (and my critique group have been patient long enough!)
Q: Are you still reading the frequently asked questions?
A: I don't feel like you are talking to me.
Q:  Well I'm trying to get you alone so we can discuss your plump, juicy...nice looking fingers.  Do you think you could help me get something out of my teeth?
A:  No more questions.
